Minister Kehoe Encourages Wexford Graduates with Early-Stage Start-Ups to Apply for €500,000 Fund

Minister with responsibility for Defence, Paul Kehoe, has encouraged recent graduates from Wexford to apply for the Government’€500,000 Competitive Start fund.

The Fund, which is being operated by Enterprise Ireland, will close at 3pm on Tuesday, 24th April 2018.

An overall total of €500,000 is available for graduates who wish to accelerate their start-up companies.

Sums of up to €50,000 in equity funding will be paid to up to 10 successful candidates.

“Graduates working across manufacturing and internationally traded services sectors can apply. This includes sub-sectors such as cloud computing, software-as-a-service, enterprise software, cleantech, gaming, mobile, apps and LifeSciences,” Minister Kehoe said.

“I would strongly encourage budding entrepreneurs from Wexford working in these areas to check if they’re eligible and consider applying.

“The Fund is part of our strategy to increase the number and quality of High Potential Start-Up companies that have the potential to employ more than 10 people and achieve €1 million in export sales within three years.

“Applications from final year students, and graduates with a third-level qualification within the last three years, are invited to apply.”

The Enniscorthy-based TD said there is a poll of talent and ambitious entrepreneurs in Wexford who are making valuable contributions to the economy through their start-ups.

Minister Kehoe continued:

“For these entrepreneurs, Government supports like this one are vital. Together with crucial funding, the initiative provides valuable business support and networking opportunities to innovative entrepreneurs and companies at the start of their journey. It also provides a platform for them to progress their businesses.

“In addition to written online applications, companies will be asked to prepare an online video pitch. Full details on the Competitive Start Fund for Graduate Entrepreneurs, including the application form and eligibility criteria, can be found on Enterprise Ireland’s website at
