Minister Paul Kehoe to request hospice bed for St. John’s, Enniscorthy

Minister Paul Kehoe is to meet this week with Minister for Health, Leo Varadkar to request an expansion in cancer care services in Wexford, specifically with the provision of a hospice bed in St. John’s Hospital in Enniscorthy.

“There is currently a hospice bed in Gorey which provides cancer patients the opportunity to live out their final days in dignity and peace and provides a wonderful source of support for both patients and families alike.”

Minister Kehoe will make the case for a hospice bed in St. John’s hospital and for the necessary staff to manage this if granted.

“The need for improved hospital care is obvious and while great advances in the care of cancer patients have taken place in recent years, much more needs to be done.”
