Minister Paul Kehoe has confirmed that he has spoken to BAM, the contractors appointed to the Enniscorthy Bypass to seek assurances that they will take the opportunity to source both labour and plant hire locally for the duration of the project.
“The Bypass brings with it huge opportunities for the area, not least in the construction phases and it is vital that these opportunities are maximised for the benefit of the community. The construction phase has the opportunity to provide 400 jobs over the course of the project in addition to bringing a business opportunity for local plant hire companies.”
“I have made contact with BAM to seek assurances that they will source as much of their labour and plant locally and to ensure that any expenditure on labour be in line with Irish legislation. I would urge anybody with the relevant skills or equipment to put their case forward to the contractor to seek out any possible opportunity”.
