Wexford companies to benefit from grants under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund

Fine Gael TD for Wexford, Minister Paul Kehoe has announced that a number of Wexford based companies are to benefit from grants under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) Operational Programme for the seafood sector.

“It has been confirmed to me by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Michael Creed, that a number of Wexford based companies are to receive grants under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) Operational Programme for the seafood sector.

“Local companies to receive grants are as follows:

Seafood Processing Capital Investment Scheme:
O Flaherty Brothers Ltd. T/A Saltees Fish: €6,052
Sofrimar Ltd: €300,000

Seafood Scaling & New Market Development Scheme:
Jade Ireland Seafood Ltd. (Sofrimar, Carr Shellfish Ireland, McBride Fishing Co. Ltd., Shellfish Ireland): €50,000

Seafood Innovation & Business Planning Scheme:
Sofrimar Ltd Wexford: €20,000

“This investment programme was only announced in December, so it is great to see County Wexford benefitting so quickly from the funding available.

“This funding is really important to our seafood processing and aquaculture sectors, which are so crucial to job creation in County Wexford. These sectors have been prioritised by Government as growth industries with excellent job creation potential. The grants for the Seafood Processing Capital Investment Scheme alone are expected to create 316 jobs nationally by 2019 and additional sales of €77 million by 2019.

“The funding investments announced today will allow these Wexford based companies to grow and expand, developing new products and new markets; and crucially help them to create jobs in Wexford.

“Job creation continues to be a huge priority for Fine Gael in Government, and through industries such as seafood processing and aquaculture, Wexford is very much part of that job creation success. More jobs mean more resources for the Government to invest in better services and make everyone’s lives a little easier.”
