Speaking
at conferring ceremony for students graduating from the Wexford Campus of Carlow IT at the National Opera House this afternoon, Minister Kehoe said;
“I passionately believe that Wexford and the South East will benefit greatly by having a multi-campus technological university for the region and I welcome the development that the Minister for Education and Skills, Jan O’Sullivan TD has established a new process to reinvigorate the technological university of the South East project.
“The Minister has appointed Mr. Michael Kelly to lead a process of engagement and consultation with the governing bodies, staff and students in Waterford IT and IT Carlow, together with the wider community in the South East, in order to develop a shared vision for a Technological University to serve the South-East.
“Mr Kelly will report to the Minister within ten weeks on the feasibility and steps required to progress an application for technological university status. A multi-campus Technological University would provide a huge boost to this region if we build on the existing strengths of IT Carlow and Waterford IT”.
