MINISTER PAUL KEHOE TD, Government Chief Whip & Minister of State, has welcomed news from Enniscorthy Municipal District that extensive works have been carried out to repair, modernise and extend the town’s CCTV system.

Speaking about the improvements, Minister Kehoe said:

“I’m pleased that Enniscorthy Municipal District is investing in the town’s CCTV system. A number of tenders have been approved for this work and some of the work has already been carried out.

“I am constantly approached about reports of burglary, petty crime and anti-social behaviour in the town and an upgrade to the CCTV system is badly required to tackle these problems and act as a deterrent to criminal activity”.

The Minister outlined that there are four aspects of the upgrade, repair and extension work that has been approved for the CCTV system.

1. Work has already been carried out to upgrade and modernise the hard ware used to manage the CCTV system in town hall.
2. A tender has been approved to repair the cameras around the town that have been damaged by extreme weather.
3. A tender has been approved to install equipment at Enniscorthy Garda Station that will give them live access to the town’s CCTV system.
4. A tender has been approved to install additional cameras at the new Enniscorthy Sports Hub at Cherry Orchard and also in Drumgoold.
