Minister Paul Kehoe has welcomed the announcement by ClearStream Technologies Limited, the medical devices manufacturer, that it has completed a 50,000 sq. ft. extension to its existing facility in his native Enniscorthy. In the past four months 100 new jobs have been created at this facility and it now has the potential to create 200 further jobs.
Minister Kehoe stated;
“I want to pay tribute to the management and staff of the Clearstream facility Enniscorthy, whose hard work over a number of years has created one of Co. Wexford’s biggest employers, with 410 employees.
“The investment in this plant creates the accommodation and potential for 200 jobs in the medical device sector allowing talented young people from Co. Wexford find high quality employment here in their home county.
“I want to thank Minister Richard Bruton, the staff of the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation and the IDA for their hard work on this project. I know that Minister Bruton recently met with senior management of CR Bard to discuss projects on two occasions while on an IDA investment missions to the US.
“This expansion by ClearStream, supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland, adds additional capacity to the facility allowing it to build on its current product portfolio and potentially add new products.
“I want to congratulate Mythen Construction, a Wexford company, on building of this state of the art facility.
“We need to learn the lessons of the past and avoid economic boom and bust. The Government has taken steps to create the climate for economic recovery but we must now secure that recovery, with steps such as those taken in the recent budget. In future we need to have a more stable and diverse economy.
“In the past Wexford was overly dependent on the construction industry. In future we need to have a more stable and diverse economy. I believe that investment by companies such as Clearstream in Enniscorthy will encourage other companies to do likewise helping our economic recovery”.
