Minister Kehoe wishes Commissioner Hogan well in vital role for Irish farming

MINISTER Paul Kehoe TD, Government Chief Whip has issued his congratulations to new Agricultural Commissioner Phil Hogan and has declared that the appointment will be crucial for the future of farming in County Wexford and Ireland.

Commenting on the appointment, Minister Kehoe said;

“This is crucial appointment for the future of Irish agriculture and the local agri economy in County Wexford, the agricultural commissionership comes with huge responsibility and control of 40% of the EU budget.

“The appointment is a major coup for Ireland and emphasises our central role in the European project. Irish agricultural exports have experienced unprecedented growth under this Government and this will no doubt be enhanced by Commissioner Hogan’s appointment to the top agricultural job in Europe. I want to wish him all the best in the role and look forward to working with him in the future in his capacity as Commissioner”.

“I want to congratulate Commissioner Hogan, who has been a personal friend and colleague for many years. It is a position that I am confident that he will excel in, having worked with him closely in Cabinet I know how committed and competent he is in all aspects of his work”.
